Kangana Ranaut to make OTT debut as host of Ekta Kapoor’s new celebrity reality show, Lock Upp

Ekta Kapoor has thought up a one-of-a-kind reality show to keep audiences entertained, one which promises to be as controversial as it is entertaining. Titled Lock Upp, the upcoming reality show will be hosted by Kangana Ranaut, marking the actor’s OTT debut.

The show was announced by Kapoor along with MX Media CEO Karan Bedi, at a special event held recently in Mumbai. The reality show will involve 16 ‘controversial’ celebrities being locked in together, having to perform a series of tasks while they are ‘imprisoned’. The makers also revealed that they would live stream the show 24/7 on ALTBalaji and MX Player, and audiences can also interact with the contestants. Audiences would also be granted a certain amount of power to wield over the contestants, where they could reward or punish the celebrities of their choice.

Ranaut, who also attended the event, expressed her excitement at her digital debut coming in the form of such a ‘thrilling’ show, also thanking Kapoor for the opportunity. The actress also talked about how her fans should brace themselves for what she called ‘the most fearless show ever’.

Kapoor also reiterated the actress’ sentiments, saying that the show was to be mounted on a scale, never seen before on reality television. Calling the show’s concept ‘brilliant’, Kapoor said that she was certain that the upcoming show would not only enthrall audiences but also ‘set a new standard for reality shows’. She also expressed elation at the partnership between ALTBalaji and MX Player.

Lock Upp will premiere on ALTBalaji and MX Player on February 27, 2022.
