One of the films that Kavya Shetty’s quite thrilled to have been a part of is the upcoming thriller Sold, in which she plays an investigative journalist. Directed by debutante Prerana Agarwal, the film revolves around human trafficking and also features standup comic and actor Danish Sait in a more intense role – as a cop.

In the film, Kavya’s character, Ruchita is investigating human trafficking in the city, only to find that the case hits quite close to home when a friend’s child goes missing. In her quest to find the child, Ruchita meets a police officer, played by Danish, who helps her.

Produced by Deepam Kohli under the banner Horn OK Films, Sold, with music by Jeet Singh, is getting a theatrical release. The film has zeroed in on March 4 for its date with audiences and is currently in competition with Pradeep Bogadi’s Yellow Board at the box office. For Danish, whose only theatrical outing so far has been his 2018 Humble Politiciann Nograj, with French Biriyani and One Cut Two Cut being direct-to-OTT releases, Sold will be his first non-comedy movie in the theatres, but third project, overall, in 2022. In January, his Humble Politiciann Nograj came out on Voot Select, followed by One Cut Two Cut on Amazon Prime Video.

Kavya, who was last seen in Kannada in Lanke and Bro Daddy in Malayalam, has several projects ready for release. For starters, she’s got Gurtunda Seethakalam, the Telugu remake of the Kannada hit Love Mocktail, in which she takes on Amrutha Iyengar’s role. Back home, there’s Ravi Boppanna, the Kannada remake of the Malayalam film Joseph, in which she is paired with Crazy Star Ravichandran and the thriller Kaada, about a serial killer, in which she joins J Karthik.
