Kannappa is Vishnu Manchu's new film that has caught the imagination of one and all. The film has completed five days of its run and has been making decent money so far. While it was expected to slow down on weekdays, it defied expectations and passed the Monday test with flying colours.
However, on day five, Kannappa saw a dip, collecting only Rs 2 crore at the box office. With several big films releasing this week, the collections are likely to drop further.
Vishnu Manchu has invested a lot of money into the film and is yet to finalise the OTT rights for Kannappa. However, we now hear that a noted satellite channel has bagged the rights for a whopping Rs 20 crore. A close aide reveals that Vishnu has just closed this deal for a fancy price and will soon finalise the OTT deal as well.
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the film features music by Stephen Devassy, whose work is being widely appreciated. The entire Manchu family has been involved in the film. Vishnu's children, Ariana, Viviana, and Avram Manchu, made cameo appearances, while his father, Mohan Babu, played a key role.
Preity Mukundan played the female lead and has become a sensation in Telugu cinema, with her glamour and performance winning hearts. Kannappa also featured cameos from Prabhas, Mohanlal, and Akshay Kumar. Interestingly, both Prabhas and Mohanlal did not charge a single rupee for their roles, whereas Akshay Kumar was paid a hefty amount.
Kannappa is Vishnu’s dream project, one he has been trying to make for over a decade. Now, that dream has come true, and his performance, especially in the climax, is drawing praise. It remains to be seen how much more the film will earn in the coming days.
