Kannappa: Vishnu Manchu speaks about how Mohanlal came on board the film, revealing that he even fell on his feet when the Malayalam superstar agreed to come to New Zealand for the shoot.

Vishnu Manchu-starrer Kannappa is among the most-awaited films from the south industry. The Telugu film is making headlines in other industries too as it features several stars, including Prabhas, Akshay Kumar and Mohanlal. Now, Vishnu Manchu has spoken about how Mohanlal came on board the film, revealing that he even fell on his feet when the Malayalam superstar agreed to come to New Zealand for the shoot.
In a recent chat with The Cue Studio, Telugu star Vishnu Manchu, who headlines Kannappa, spoke about his interaction with Mohanlal as he pitched the role of Kirata to him. Kanappa is set to hit theatres on June 27, 2025.
Recounting his experience, Vishnu said that he informed the Lucifer star about the character and that they would be shooting the entire movie in New Zealand. He further said that he would like Mohanlal to come there, if not, he was ready to shoot it in the studio with the green mat
Mohanlal enquired when the shooting would take place and Vishnu replied that they plan to shoot in December. "Ok, mone. I will come to New Zealand," pat came the reply from Mohanlal.
Taken aback by the prompt reply, Vishnu Manchu asked him if he accepted the role and Mohanlal said yes, that he just agreed to come to New Zealand. "I got up, went and fell at his feet," Vishnu recounted.
The Telugu actor also added that Mohanlal’s episode is the biggest highlight and that his screentime would be around 18 minutes.
Visnu Manchu stars in the titular role in Kannappa, helmed by Mukesh Kumar Singh. y Mohan Babu, R Sarathkumar, Arpit Ranka, and Brahmanandam are also part of the film in supporting roles.
On the other hand, Mohanlal’s last release was Thudarum, which was a runaway hit at the box office. The Tharun Moorthy directorial also featured Prakash Varma as the antagonist along with Shobana, Farhaan Faasil, Binu Pappu and Thomas Mathew in other key roles.
