Karan Johar seems to be on a trail of fresh starts to his old passions. The filmmaker stepped into the shoes of host yet again with the upcoming new season of Koffee With Karan. Karan is also back in the director’s chair after a gap, helming the upcoming film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan. Karan recently revealed that one of the worst criticisms that he got for his hosting skills came from none other than Jaya Bachchan herself.
In conversation with Pinkvilla, Karan revealed that Jaya had criticised him for speaking too loudly even when there was a mic available, when he hosted programs. The veteran actress had scolded him asking why he shouted when there was a mic nearby. Although Karan had tried to defend himself by saying that it was his attempts at being ‘energetic’, Jaya had quipped “ that’s what a mic is for, you don’t need to scream when you are out speaking”.
The filmmaker also spoke of how he hasn't ruled out his return to acting. Karan’s last acting role was in Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet (2015). Calling the film a ‘global disaster’, Karan said that if he was given another opportunity he believed he could ‘redeem himself’ as an actor. “I really think I wont be so bad. I might be good also,” he said. But sadly, the filmmaker said that he was not offered anything after Bombay Velvet and joked about how upset he was at his ‘flop status’ as an actor.
Koffee with Karan 7 will premiere on Disney+Hotstar tonight at 7 PM. Ranveer and Alia will grace the couch on the show’s first episode. Vijay Deverakonda, Ananya Panday, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan, Kriti Sanon, Tiger Shroff, Kiara Advani and Shahid Kapoor are some of the guests this season.
