Karan Wahi opens up on making his television comeback after 6 years with Channa Mereya

Karan Wahi delighted fans when he announced his comeback to television this year with Channa Mereya. The actor had been absent from the television industry for almost six years, and he recently opened up about why he chose to make his comeback with Channa Mereya.

In conversation with Mid Day, Karan spoke of how romantic dramas gave him more scope to perform as an actor compared to family shows, since television gave more importance to ‘jodis’. Channa Mereya belonged to the former category. Karan revealed that one of the biggest things that excited him about the show was the fact that he was given a chance to be creatively involved as well, which the actor said was a rarity in television. The actor said that there was a lot of ‘give and take’ on the sets of the show, as his creative team took inputs from him as well.

The actor talked about the long working hours that were common while working on TV shows. But Channa Mereya was different in that it involved ‘decent’ working hours which gave the actor enough time to enjoy his personal life as well. “So, when the issues that primarily kept me away from the small screen were sorted, I had no reason to decline the show”, said Karan.

Karan said that although he did love his craft, he also placed a lot of importance on his mental health as well. He said he did not want to return to do a television show only for the money. The actor said that he was well aware that TV shows tend to feel repetitive after sometime, but he believed that was true of most things. Karan added that he needed to be happy and enjoy what he did. Without that, he did not care about making money through television.
