Kareena Kapoor Khan has finally kicked off the shoot of her Netflix debut film, The Devotion of Suspect X. The Sujoy Ghosh directorial also features Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat in the lead roles. Kareena took to her Instagram page and shared a candid photo from the sets in Kalimpong, West Bengal. The actor is seen shooting while on a balcony facing the beautiful mountains.
Kareena captioned her photo as "Day 1 - Kalimpong... Sujoy Ghosh @netflix_in, @jaideepahlawat @itsvijayvarma, @jayshewakramani, @akshaipuri, #Thomaskim, and #AvikMukhopadhyay."
The Devotion of Suspect X follows a single mother and her daughter as they commit a crime and are assisted in covering it up by a neighbour throughout a police inquiry.
Earlier, in a statement, Kareena had said that she was looking forward to getting started on this fascinating project. The actor is particularly excited to work with Sujoy, Jaideep, and Vijay on this project since it has all the necessary ingredients: a brilliant story, a visionary director, and a super-skilled cast and crew. It's the start of an exciting journey, and she can't wait for people all across the world to witness this international bestseller come to life.
While Sujoy thinks Devotion is the best love story he has ever read, it's such an honour for him to be able to convert it into a film. The filmmaker also gets to collaborate with Kareena, Jaideep, and Vijay. What more could one want?
12th Street Entertainment, Northern Lights Films, Boundscript, and Kross Pictures are producing the as-yet-untitled Indian adaptation. Jay Shewakramani, Akshai Puri, Ghosh, and Thomas Kim are among the producers.
It's an Indian version of the bestselling 2005 novel The Devotion of Suspect X by Japanese author Higashino Keigo.
Apart from this, Kareena will next be seen in the Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha, directed by Advait Chandan. The film is released on August 11, 2022.
