Modern Love Chennai, which was dropped on Amazon Prime on Thursday, has opened to good response among film buffs. The anthology featuring six shorts helmed by Bharathiraja, Balaji Sakthivel, Thiagarajan Kumararaja, Rajumurugan, Krishnakumar Ramakumar and Akshay Sunder has music by Ilaiyaraaja, Yuvan Shankar Raja, GV Prakash and Sean Roldan.

Several cinephiles and a few celebs have been going gaga over the project which deals with romance and complex relationships between people hailing from various walks of life. The other day, singer Srinivas went gaga over Ilaiyaraaja's composition in it.

Karthik Subbaraj is the latest to have heaped praises on Modern Love Chennai. The filmmaker said that the anthology is a treat for Raja sir and that the show is amazing in all aspects. "Awesome collection of love stories made by awesome filmmakers", he opined.

He felt that Bharathiraja's Paravai Kootil Vaazhum Maangal, starring Kishore, Vijayalakshmi, Delhi Ganesh and Ramya Nambeesan, reminded him of Balu Mahendra's style of filmmaking and that Raja's music enhanced its emotions. Karthik went on to describe Thiagarajan Kumararaja's Ninaivo Oru Paravai as a masterpiece and said that it blew his mind. He tagged all filmmakers and music directors of the project.

Karthik, who last helmed Mahaan with Vikram, is busy with Jigarthanda Double X, starring SJ Suryah and Raghava Lawrence in lead roles. It was announced recently that the action drama will be released around Deepavali festival this year. The film is the director's theatrical release after more than four years.

Petta, starring Rajinikanth in the titular role, was his previous theatrical outing. Dhanush-starrer Jagame Thandhiram and Vikram-starrer Mahaan which he helmed later were direct-to-OTT releases.
