If you are a follower of the Aashiqui franchise, we have a piece of bad news for you. We know that the 1990 musical film Aashiqui was a super hit. Its successor, Aashiqui 2, starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, too, ended up becoming a blockbuster in 2013. And in 2023, multiple reports revealed that Aashiqui 3 was in the making with Kartik Aaryan being in the lead role. While fans of the franchise eagerly look forward to watching Aashiqui 3, fresh reports claim that T-Series, the famous production house, has denied any involvement in the project.
Till the end of last year, multiple reports claimed that Aashiqui 3 would be produced under the banner of T-Series. The company, however, has issued a statement today.
"We categorically deny any ongoing rumours suggesting that 'Aashiqui 3' is being produced under a different title by T- Series. Our proposed film to be directed by Anurag Basu is neither 'Aashiqui 3' nor part of the Aashiqui franchise. We sincerely appreciate the ongoing support and enthusiasm of our fans. Our commitment lies in consistently delivering top-notch content, and we eagerly anticipate future ventures with our esteemed partners,” read the thundering press statement by T-Series.
Soon after the announcement of the news, many social media handles lashed out at the company for promoting nepotism in Bollywood. Many social media users also expressed that this development clears why he was absent from the Ambani bash in Jamnagar.
It all began in 2021 when Kartik Aaryan was reportedly filming Dostana 2, produced by popular filmmaker Karan Johar, alongside Janhvi Kapoor and Laksh Lalwani. The film was backed by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. However, the film's production stalled due to an alleged fallout between Kartik and Karan. Fans were left waiting for an update on the film's release. In 2023, Kartik and Karan announced a new project, indicating a reconciliation and a new chapter in their professional relationship.
