Lara Dutta’s latest series Kaun Banegi Shikharwati, which also stars Naseeruddin Shah, is gearing up for its release this month. The star recently opened up about her experience on sharing the screen with Shah and how she had been nervous about the same.
In conversation with PTI, Dutta talked about how there was a scene she filmed which involved her calling her co-stars Shah and Raghubir Yadav ‘crazy old men’. The actress said that she initially refused to say the line, asking the writers if they could re-write her dialogue. Being veteran actors, Dutta said Shah and Yadav had allayed her fears, asking her to ‘have fun’ with her lines and that there were no hard feelings behind it.
Dutta also recalled how nervous she had been on sharing the screen with the actors, and how she took it as a learning opportunity by watching them act. She also revealed that one of the major reasons she had agreed to be in the show was due to Shah’s presence.
On the series, she said that it was an amusing and eccentric show. The series follows the story of a former king, who tries to bring his estranged daughters together via a bizarre plan. Calling the family in the show crazy and quirky, Dutta talks about how in the show they are forced to embrace a traditional regal life they had left behind, under the leadership of the family patriarch.
Produced by Nikkhil Advani and Sameer Nair, the series also stars Soha Ali Khan, Kritika Kamra, Anya Singh, and Cyrus Sahukar.
Kaun Banegi Shikharwati will premiere exclusively on ZEE5 on January 7.
