All of us have those deep moments that compel us to take a step back and introspect about our lives and the choices we have made thus far. For 35-year-old scriptwriter Vikram Khurrana, who is a contestant at the ongoing reality TV show Kaun Banega Crorepati 14, shared an interesting observation from his life that prompted him to quit his job in finance.
It so happened that Vikram had to start working at a tender age owing to his father's poor health conditions but while taking a trip in the local train in Mumbai, the contestant decided he was going to switch over to a completely different profession.
Vikram said that he would leave for his office at 9:02 AM by train as his boss would scold him if he was late to work. And then one day, he saw three men at different stages of their respective lives and thought to himself he cannot end up being at the same local train when he is older.
"I used to catch the train that would leave from Kandivali station at 9.02 a.m. If I missed that train, I would get an earful from my boss. Thus, I would always strive to catch that train, even if there was no space inside, and I would always find myself standing at the door. At 9.02 a.m. as I was travelling to the office, I was not happy at all, there was an inner voice saying, 'I need change'" Vikram told Amitabh Bachchan during Kaun Banega Crorepati 14.
The man then went on to add that how this particular experience made him realise that had he not changed his profession then he would have ended up travelling back and forth in Mumbai locals for the rest of his life.
"There was a 14-year-old standing in front of me at the door. Behind him was an 18-year-old boy and behind him I was there and then behind me was a 45-year-old man. At that moment, at the doorway of a train coach, I found my whole life panned out. At 24 I was here, at 18 I travelled by the same train to college and then at 14 too I was there. I did not want to be 45 and standing in the same place. That was the time I decided I wanted to get off the train," shared the contestant with Amitabh Bachchan.
Hearing this profound life story, Amitabh Bachchan was visibly impressed and lauded the young man.
