Uppu Kappurambu is one of the most awaited Telugu releases on OTT. The Amazon Prime original stars Keerthy Suresh and Suhas in the lead roles and is set to stream on July 4, 2025. Keerthy Suresh plays a government officer who is a geek and gets caught in chaos related to a burial ground. How this simple, young officer faces tense situations is portrayed in a hilarious manner.
Speaking about the role, Keerthy Suresh says that the moment director Sasi narrated it to her, she instantly fell in love with the geeky avatar of the female lead. “The way my look was designed impressed me right away. My character is innocent and is known for constantly messing things up. What happens when such a character gets stuck in village politics was something fresh, and I grabbed it with both hands.”
The Mahanati star also adds that this is the first time she’s been offered something so different, and the role gave her a great opportunity to explore her fun side. “The way I react to situations and the situational comedy in serious moments is what sets this film apart from others,” adds Keerthy.
The story revolves around a burial ground that only has space left for four more cremations. Keerthy’s character is tasked with auctioning off the space—and all hell breaks loose. How she defuses the situation with the help of Suhas forms the basic plot.
Speaking about working with Suhas, Keerthy says, “Suhas is a natural performer and an actor to watch out for. Our unique pairing is one of the biggest highlights of Uppu Kappurambu. The content is different—it's kind of an experiment—and that's why the film is releasing directly on OTT.”
The star heroine has massive popularity in the Telugu states, and it’s been a while since her last Telugu film. “Everyone has seen me in serious roles or as the typical heroine. For the first time, I’ve played a crazy character, and I’m excited to see how the audience receives me in this funny role,” she concludes.
