Malayalam actor Antony Varghese will be teaming up with Keerthy Suresh for a project soon. The Daveed and Angamaly Diairies actor himself had exclusively confirmed the project to OTTplay.
“I will be doing a film with Keerthy Suresh after a few projects that I have lined up currently,” says Antony, who is looked forward to the release of his sports drama Daveed, which is helmed by debutant Govind Vishnu and will hit theatres on February 14.
Keerthy’s previous Malayalam movie was the courtroom drama Vaashi, which had her starring opposite Tovino Thomas. The film was directed by Vishnu G Raghav, who has also helmed the upcoming Neeraj Madhav webseries Love Under Construction , which will begin streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from February 28.
Antony did not reveal whether the movie will be in Malayalam, Tamil or Telugu. Keerthy also has Revolver Rita and Kannivendi at various stages of production. The actress is also part of Netflix’s upcoming web series Akka, which has her sharing screen space with Radhika Apte.
Antony too has a host of exciting projects coming up – including movies with RDX and Marco directors. The former has Dulquer Salmaan in the lead. “I am doing a movie with Nahas Hidayath next. After that there’s a film with Haneef Adeni and then another one with Marco producer Shareef Muhammed that will be directed by my friend,” he tells us.
His immediate release will be Daveed, which has him playing a bouncer turned professional boxer. On shouldering a movie on his own, the actor says, “It comes with its set of challenges. If a few films that you are part of, don’t work at the box office, the number of producers backing your films will naturally come down, the budgets decrease and it affects us as well as the filmmakers who trust us in several ways. Movies like Daveed might not even get made. I am now part of this because of the success of films like RDX and my previous projects.”
The actor is hopeful that Daveed works and consequently, it helps the makers of his next movies – in terms of increasing the scale as well as budget. “So, I am aware of that pressure and I think every actor is cognisant of that. That’s why they want their movies to do well, while also wanting the other films that release along with it to succeed. Because ultimately, everyone puts in a lot of effort and time into making movies,” he said.
