Marco duo to team up for Arjun Ashokan’s WWE-inspired wrestling movie

Marco duo of stunt director Kalai Kingson and actor Ishan Shoukath are set to be part of Arjun Ashokan’s upcoming wrestling movie, which will also mark the debut of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy in Malayalam

Ace music composers Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendosa had announced through their social media pages that they are all set to make their composing debut in Malayalam cinema through an upcoming project. While the title of the film and its cast and crew were not revealed by the trio, we have got a few details that will excite the viewers for the movie.  

The producers of the film had previously shared a poster of the movie, announcing that Arjun Ashokan will be playing the lead, with a background of a wrestling ring a la WWE with chairs scattered on all corners and a shadow of Macho Man Randy Savage’s iconic pose. Shihan Shoukath is expected to debut as a filmmaker and writer with the movie.

Marco duo to join wrestling film set in Kochi

We hear that the film’s action director will be Kalai Kingston, who was most recently lauded for his stunt sequences in Unni Mukundan’s Marco that is set to begin streaming on Sony LIV from February 14. Kalai had also previously worked in Thalavan, Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse and Bramayugam, in which he collaborated with Arjun.  

Apart from Kalai, Dubai-based Marco actor Ishan Shoukath, who had played the visually-challenged stepbrother to Unni’s titular character in the film is also a part of the upcoming movie.  

‘Kochi’s soul and WWE wrestling madness’

In their social media post, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio had said that the movie has “Kochi’s soul, WWE wrestling madness, chenda beats and a soundtrack that’s literally gonna pack a punch (sic).”  

Arjun, meanwhile, is gearing up for the release of his comedy caper Bromance, which also has Mathew Thomas, Mahima Nambiar, Sangeeth Prathap and Shyam Mohan. The actor is also part of debutant director Manoj NS’ Tamil film Moonwalk, which will reunite Prabhudeva and AR Rahman after 25 years. The team of the film, which also has Yogi Babu and Aju Varghese, has already completed its first schedule.
