The first lyrical video from the highly-anticipated Yash-starrer, KGF: Chapter 2 is here. Toofan, composed and written by Ravi Basrur, has vocals by Santhosh Venky, Mohan Krishna, Sachin Basrur, Ravi Basrur, Puneeth Rudranag, Varsha Acharya, along with child singers, Giridhar Kamath, Raksha Kamath, Sinchana Kamath, Nishanth Kini, Bharath Bhat, Anagha Nayak, Avani Bhat, Swathi Kamath, Shivanand Nayak, Keerthana Basrur. The song announces Rocky Bhai's arrival as the new hero and is a warning to all not to stand up to him.
Interestingly, Hombale Films, the banner backing the film, had earlier conducted a social media poll asking fans what they’d like to see first, with the trailer emerging winner. However, when the trailer release was eventually announced for March 27, which was, at the time, three weeks away, fans wondered whether they should have asked for a song instead, so that they’d get to see/hear something from the film earlier than March 27. Turns out, Hombale Films has been keeping a keen ear to the ground and heard fan laments, after which they announced that a lyrical video would indeed be released prior to the trailer.
KGF: Chapter 2 is the sequel to the 2018 KGF: Chapter 1, which followed the story of Rocky (Yash) an assassin, who poses as a slave labourer to kill billionaire gold smuggler Garuda (Ramachandra Raju). The film was released in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi to great box-office success. According to director Prashant, the second instalment will conclude the story, contrary to rumours that there might be a third part as well. KGF: Chapter 2, which has Bhuvan Gowda’s cinematography, boasts a massive ensemble cast, including Srinidhi Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Prakash Raj, Achyuth Kumar, Malavika Avinash, Archana Jois, Vasishta N Simha, Avinash, among many others. The film will open in theatres on April 14, 2022.
