Today is Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep’s birthday. Since last night, he has been busy meeting and greeting the thousands of fans who’ve gathered near his home in Bengaluru and sharing his joy with them. In the morning, there was a new poster of the actor from R Chandru’s Kabzaa on social media, but beside that, there were no new announcements, which fans have come to expect on the birthday of their favourite star. With Sudeep, though, there will be no such gestures, because that’s not a trend he likes to follow. Speaking to the media that had gathered at his home, Sudeep said that announcing a new film needs to follow a certain plan and decorum.

“Announcing new projects on a birthday is an outdated concept. What is the point of announcing movies on a birthday? To show people that an actor is still in circulation and has work? I have work, and I don’t think we should be wasting money on unnecessary posters and publicity. New movies will begin and there will be announcements. But I am not following the trend to reveal all on my birthday. Anyway, I do only one cinema at a time,” said the actor.

When asked what’s special for the day, Sudeep added, “Vikrant Rona is streaming on OTT as of today. But more importantly, I have been able to meet my fans after three years. What more can I wish for?” The actor has spent hours together greeting fans one-by-one, shaking hands and patiently taking selfies with each of them. It’s something that he reckons will go on the whole day, and he’s making sure that is fans who have been waiting patiently to catch a glimpse of him do not go hungry or thirsty.

“Vikrant Rona took about four years in the making because of the pandemic. Going forward, I will have at least one release next year and then one every six months; that’s the plan right now,” he wound up and proceeded to join his fans again.
