If he were not a Kannada superstar, Kiccha Sudeep would have, most definitely been a cricketer. The actor has been an ardent player and follower of the game since his younger days. Often seen at stadiums to catch important matches, Sudeep has also put his prowess in cricket on show when he led a team from the Kannada film industry in the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) that had a few editions.

CCL was the brainchild of Hyderabad-based Vishnu Induri, who is also one of the producers of the upcoming Ranveer Singh-led 83. The film is the cinematic adaptation of the events leading to India’s historic cricket world cup win in 1983. And given Sudeep’s love for the game and relationship with Induri, it is not surprising that he has chosen to present the Kannada version of the pan-Indian film.

I am proud to present this most awaited film, which is looked forward to by the audience in India and the cricketing world.” Talking about Sudeep presenting the film, director Kabir Khan said, “Glad to have him promoting our film in the South. Our film being presented by one of the most acclaimed stars, I am confident that 83 will be received well by the Kannada audience.”

The film, directed by Kabir Khan, will be a Shalini Artss and Reliance Entertainment release in Karnataka, and is all set to hit screens on December 24. The sports drama boasts an ensemble cast including, Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Chirag Patil, Jiiva, Harrdy Sandhu, Jatin Sarna, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Addinath Kothare, Pankaj Tripathi, Karwa, R Badree, and Dhairya Karwa, among others.
