In the 2 years between the release of Vikrant Rona and Max, the general impression was that Kiccha Sudeep was busy playing cricket, or hosting Bigg Boss Kannada, than doing films, whether it was with the Celebrity Cricket League or the Karnataka Chalanachitra Cup. It’s something that he also jokingly acknowledged, but vowed to rectify, stating that his days of doing one film at a time are over and that he was looking at having at least 2 movies ready in the next 18 months .

In the last 4 weeks, Sudeep has been leading the Karnataka Bulldozers in the 2025 season of the Celebrity Cricket League, and only last night, on March 1, they lost in the semi-final against the Chenani Rhinos in Mysuru. Sudeep took to X to thank fans for the support, writing, “Thanks to each one of u for all the support towards #KarnatakaBulldozers .. The team did it's best and yes, the better side deserved to win. Thanks to all the friends from Mysuru for the warm welcome and love,” while also wishing the finalists, Chennai Rhinos and Punjab De Sher all the very best.
Now that his CCL duties are over, fans are eagerly awaiting his return to the film set, given that Sudeep had tweeted earlier that he would kickstart Billa Ranga Baashaa (BRB) , his much-awaited second collaboration with Anup Bhandari, in the second week of March. The responses to Sudeep’s thank you tweet for the CCL support reflected this, as fans asked him not to delay the start of BRB any further.
Comments ranged from, “Cricket bittu movies maadi Icc tournament ee nodtilla inna nim CCL yaar nodtare sir Make good movies,” to “Match Hoythu anno bejar alli BRB shooting 1 month delay madbedi anna 🙏🙏March 2nd week indaane start agli”, “We want to see you more in cinemas Boss. The #BRB shoot is starting ASAP, and your fans are eagerly awaiting for updates plz give Updates”, among others.
Meanwhile, prior to the start of Bigg Boss Kannada 11, Sudeep had remarked that he was looking at quitting his hosting duties, which, he went ahead and announced in the midst of the season. The showrunners are still hopeful of convincing him to return, but the way it is now, it seems that he is free to focus solely on cinema until CCL 2026 kicks off.
