Malayalam superstar Dulquer Salmaan, who is playing the lead as well as producing Abhilash Joshiy’s King of Kotha, has left no stone unturned to ensure that the movie reaches the most number of audience from the very day of its release. From massive marketing campaigns and promotional tours to sparing no expense for mounting a film of this scale, King of Kotha has a lot going for it – setting it up as the front-runner for breaking a lot of box office records set by movies such as Rajinikanth’s Jailer, Kamal Haasan’s Vikram and Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2 in the past two years.
A cameo role from a superstar in Malayalam or even in another industry would be an icing on the cake for the makers of the film, which has already grossed more than Rs 1.7 crore in advance ticket sales across the country. Here’s a list of actors, who are rumoured to play a cameo in the movie that also has Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prasanna, Gokul Suresh and Chemban Vinod Jose.
Prithviraj Sukumaran
Incidentally, Prithviraj was one of the first names under consideration for a cameo role in the movie. As per sources in the team, the film’s scriptwriter Abhilash N Chandran and director Abhilash Joshiy had contemplated casting the actor in a grey-shaded role, before they went ahead with the shoot. Both Prithviraj and Dulquer are good friends, and it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if the actor does show up in the movie. However, given his busy schedule the past year – with Salaar and the two Bollywood ventures Zarzameen and Bade Miyan Chotte Miyan, the chances are slim.
Dhruv Vikram
The buzz for a cameo by the Mahaan and Adithya Varma star has peaked closer to the release. There were also rumours that Dhruv was part of the movie during its shoot in Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu. While none of the actors have officially confirmed, Dhruv being part of King of Kotha will also be a nice tribute to Dhruvam, which was directed by Joshiy and had also starred Mammootty and Vikram. Chances of a cameo by Dhruv looks the most likely for a film like King of Kotha, which could even get a sequel, depending on the response.
Tovino Thomas
Tovino has a history of playing cameos in Dulquer’s previous films including Charlie and Kurup. Tovino was, in fact, also in Karaikudi while the shoot of King of Kotha was pr ogressing earlier this year and was even staying at the same hotel. Tovino was also seen at the sets of the Dulquer-starrer. However, from what we know, the Minnal Murali actor was there for the shoot of his own period film, Ajayante Randam Moshanam.

Suriya
This seems more like wishful thinking from the fans of both Dulquer and Suriya to see the duo unite for a Malayalam movie, before they apparently team up for Sudha Kongara’s Tamil film later this year. Suriya has been a well-wisher of Mammootty and Dulquer’s production companies and Dulquer himself had recently stated that he is inspired by Suriya’s choice of movies . But a cameo by the actor could be considered in the same vein as wanting Mammootty to make a special appearance in King of Kotha. It’s possible and if it does happen, there could be no stopping King of Kotha, which will hit theatres worldwide on August 24.
