Challenging Star Darshan fans have claimed that Kranti trailer’s 7.8 million organic views put it in third position, after KGF2 and Yajamana, ahead of Gandhada Gudi.
It seems that the fan war between the Darshan faction and that of the late Puneeth Rajkumar is far from over. The tension, which began simmering earlier last year after Darshan spoke about the love his fans have been showering him and his film with, and likened it to the outpouring of emotions when a celebrity, like Puneeth Rajkumar, for instance, passes away. Outraged at this comparison, Puneeth fans demanded an apology, which was not forthcoming. This was followed by a Kranti song release in Hospete, which was traditionally considered a Puneeth stronghold. The event was marred with Puneeth fans chanting ‘Appu, Appu’ and one, eventually throwing a chappal at Darshan who was on stage at that point, along with the rest of the team.
The online feud is palpable in the comment section of every announcement about the film or the actual song releases and the latest is with regard to the trailer of Kranti. While the immediate reaction to the trailer that was released on January 7 was to troll Darshan for his physique in the last shot, or likening him to a swiss army knife in the sequence about Ayudha Puja, right now, the tussle is about whether the Kranti trailer amassed more views than Gandhada Gudi in the first 24 hours.
Kranti has recorded 7.8 million organic views, claim Darshan fans, who have said that it now stands at third position, after KGF: Chapter 2 and Yajamana, which had 18 million and 10 million views respectively. Puneeth fans, though, have refuted this and say that Gandhada Gudi got 8.1 million views in the first 24 hours of its trailer launch. Of course, the Darshan faction has countered this claiming that Gandhada Gudi’s views were largely driven by sympathy, because it would be Puneeth’s last theatrical release ever.
