Kuberaa is one of the most-awaited films in the South, as maverick director Sekhar Kammula has teamed up with Dhanush for the first time in his career. Adding to the excitement, Tollywood superstar Akkineni Nagarjuna will be seen in a key role in the film, which is set for release on June 20, 2025, in Hindi and all the major South Indian languages.
Now, the film has completed its censor formalities and has obtained a U/A certificate from the CBFC. Interestingly, the censor officials have asked for 19 cuts in the film, resulting in close to 15 minutes being trimmed.
A few days ago, we at OTTplay reported that the runtime of the film had been locked at three hours and two minutes. The initial cut of Kuberaa was three hours and fifteen minutes, but with the latest censor update, the film's final runtime will be under three hours.
When asked about this, Sekhar Kammula confirmed the development and said, “The runtime for Telugu and Tamil is different due to the censor process. The Tamil version will be slightly longer, but the impact remains the same.”
Sekhar Kammula is known for his soft romantic dramas with rooted emotions, but for the first time, he has taken on a pan-India subject with Kuberaa, saying that the story will resonate across all regions due to its universal appeal.
Rashmika Mandanna plays the female lead, and Sekhar is thoroughly impressed with her performance, stating that “Rashmika will shock you with her performance.” Nagarjuna is also thrilled to work with Sekhar Kammula and revealed that he has been waiting for this opportunity for the past fifteen years.

Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music and has delivered some peppy tracks. Kuberaa is a social drama that revolves around the theme of black money. As per reports, the film contains several satirical scenes targeting various organisations, which is why it underwent heavy scrutiny from the censor board.
Produced by Sunil Narang, the film has taken a strong start in advance bookings. The Telugu bookings, in particular, are quite impressive, as audiences have been eagerly awaiting this release.
