Recalling the brutal assault on Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra apartment, Kunal Kemmu stated that the family's utmost concern was ensuring his brother-in-law's safety. The actor-filmmaker recalled the strange experience of breaking the news to his wife, Soha Ali Khan, while they were getting their daughter ready for school and how he was notified about the incident by phone at 6 in the morning.
The burglar who allegedly broke into Saif's house last month with the intent to steal was eventually identified as Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad, and he assaulted him. After a heated altercation, the burglar stabbed the actor multiple times, including in the thoracic spine. They whisked him away to Lilavati Hospital for urgent care.

Kunal told ANI that to be honest, the first thing was, "Is Saif okay?" And when they realised he was safe, all the noise stopped making sense; that was the most important thing.
He went on to say that Saif has addressed all questions and talked publicly about the attack. Kunal believes he has just given an interview about all the commentary that went into it. His phrasing is the most effective, in his opinion. He has already clarified and explained everything, so he won't delve into it further.
Kunal went on to describe the whole ordeal, including his first shock, saying that he's in the hospital, and he's going to undergo surgery, and he's been stabbed. At approximately six in the morning, he received a call with no further details.
But Kunal did say that it's not straightforward to overcome the terror after these kinds of events; he needs to work hard to pull himself out of it and go back to normal.
The way fear operates is really strange and Kunal was the one who had to tell Soha. As they were preparing their daughter for school, all he had was this information. To clarify, should he bring his daughter to school right now or not? He felt like his thoughts were being manipulated by all of those things. After sending Inaaya to school, Kunal suggested they go there themselves, and that's when they began to piece together what had happened.
According to Kunal, Saif's entire family was worried about him and prayed for his recovery. The next most important prayer they prayed was that he'd be okay. Once they achieved their goal, they felt satisfied.
On January 21, Saif underwent surgery at Lilavati Hospital and was then released from the hospital. The actor waved to the press briefly upon his return to his Bandra home.
