The excitement levels for Prithviraj Sukumaran’s L2 Empuraan have gone a notch higher as the Malayalam director-actor has announced the newest cast member for the Mohanlal starrer. Prithviraj Sukumaran took to Instagram a while ago to reveal that the character No 7 from L2 Empuraan is Game of Thrones actor Jerome Flynn. He will be playing Boris Oliver in the second installment of the Lucifer franchise.
In the character introduction video, Jerome Flynn said that he was excited to be part of the Malayalam film and spoke about his connection to India.
Jerome can't 'quite remember' how he got the role, but he is 'so glad he did' as it is a completely different experience from what he is used to in the UK or US. For the unversed, Jerome was also a part of Keanu Reeves's John Wick 3 and Black Mirror.
The GoT actor said it was really special to get a taste of Mollywood culture of things. "It was extra special for me as India was a really important and precious part of my journey," the actor said while recounting that he used to visit India as part of his spiritual retreat during his 20s and 30s.
So the job in Lucifer "felt like coming home", said the actor who plays Bronn in the immensely popular Game of Thrones series.
While admitting that he can't reveal much about his role in Empuraan, Jerome Flynn said his character Boris plays an important role in Khureshi-Ab'raam's journey. For those of you who are yet to watch Lucifer, Mohanlal stars as Khureshi-Ab'raam aka Stephen Nedumpally.
Prithviraj Sukumaran's announcement about Jerome Flynn being a part of Mohanlal-starrer has taken the fans by surprise. Excited fans have been flooding the comments box with fire emojis, with one netizen calling it 'insane casting'.
Many were happy to see 'Bronn' from GoT, with some calling it 'international casting'. One comment read - 'This must be the biggest cast in Indian cinema history'. Yet another person said, 'This is huge. big surprise. Best character reveal so far too.'
Prithviraj Sukumaran's Empuraan, starring Mohanlal along with Tovino Thomas and Manju Warrier, will make its big release in theatres on March 27, 2025.
