L2 Empuraan: Mohanlal teases what to expect from the third part of Prithviraj Sukumaran's Lucifer franchise

Prithviraj Sukumaran set the internet buzzing with his comments about Khureshi Ab’raam earlier in the day, while talking about his character Zayed Masood in his upcoming movie Empuraan. Now, it is time for the big reveal of Mohanlal, appearing as Khureshi-Ab'raam aka Stephen Nedumpally in L2 Empuraan. Mohanlal talks about his role, and what viewers can expect as the highly anticipated Empuraan releases on March 27, 2025. But not just Empuraan, the Malayalam superstar also touched upon the third part of Prithviraj Sukumaran's Lucifer franchise. He promised that Empuraan would end with a glimpse of what leads to the third instalment. 

Mohanlal on Khureshi-Ab'raam in L2 Empuraan

In the character introduction video shared by Prithviraj Sukumaran on social media, Mohanlal dives straight into his character Khureshi Ab'raam aka Stephen Nedumpally.

The Malayalam superstar confirmed that we will get to know more about Khureshi Ab'raam in the second part of the Lucifer franchise which will delve into how he deals with conflicts in his own world and find solutions to the new challenges that Kerala is facing.

But he warns us that to fully understand the story of Khureshi Ab'raam or Stephen, we will have to wait till the third part too, promising that the second part will end with portions leading to the final instalment of the Lucifer trilogy. 

In the 1-minute-53-second video, Mohanlal is dressed in white, which was the attire of Stephen in Lucifer. 

Notably, Mohanlal says, "I consider Empuraan as the biggest film of my career." This is a very significant remark coming from Malayalam's Complete Actor, who has an illustrious filmography with numerous award-winning and popular films.

Lavishing praise on Prithviraj, Mohanlal says that the Empuraan director has treated every actor and location in the movie with utmost importance. This will be one of Prithivraj's most significant films as a director, the Lucifer star added.

"Khureshi Ab'raam is coming to God's own country or like Stephen said in the first part... to the Devil's Own Country," signed off Mohanlal after reminding viewers that Empuraan will be releasing in theatres worldwide on March 27, 2025.

Building anticipation for the L2 Empuraan’s lead character, Prithviraj earlier shared a photo featuring the eyes of The Complete Actor. The ace director-actor wrote in the caption -  “As you stare into his eyes, you shall see the fires burning in the depths of hell. Ab’Raam. Stephen. The Overlord.” It is interesting to note that Prithviraj, used the term “The Overlord” along with Ab’Raam and Stephen, the latter two being his names.

Empuraan releases on March 27, 2025

Meanwhile, Empuraan was also in the news earlier in the day after reports claimed the Film Chamber was planning a token strike in March. However, the Film Chamber president later dismissed these reports and said that the theatre owners were waiting for the release of Empuraan on March 27, 2025. The much-anticipated movie features an ensemble cast, including Tovino Thomas, Indrajith and Manju Warrier, among several others.
