Aamir Khan’s latest release Laal Singh Chaddha has failed to make a mark at the Box Office. The film has been rejected and it did not even cross Rs. 50 crores over the weekend, despite the Independence Day holiday. The movie has not even come close to Rs. 40 crores and going by early trends, it is unlikely to pick up even on Monday (Independence Day).

Laal Singh Chaddha opened to poor Rs. 37.75 crores at the Box Office. The film has been rejected in many parts of India.

Here’s the Box Office collection till date, according to Box Office India:

Thursday: 11.50 crores

Friday: 7.25 crores

Saturday: 8.75 crores

Sunday: 10.25 crores

Total: 37.75 crores

Surprisingly, the film has worked well in Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana. It has especially connected in Ludhiana but even that was not enough to help the Box Office of the movie. The movie has also been working well in Delhi-NCR i.e. New Delhi, Faridabad, Gurgaon and Noida.

While Aamir usually has a strong hold in Southern regions of India, the film failed to connect with people even there. The worst response, however, comes from Gujarat. That is not a huge surprise, given how Akshay Kumar’s films are loved and preferred in Gujarat and this time, the viewers there went to watch Raksha Bandhan over Aamir’s film.

Laal Singh Chaddha faced major backlash on social media as netizens asked for boycotting the film. The debate question was often posed to the film’s actress, Kareena Kapoor Khan. While she previously seemed unaffected by the trend, Bebo was recently heard asking fans to not boycott the movie because she believes it is good cinema.

However, the movie has received a mixed bag of responses. That has also affected the movie’s collections – since a lot of netizens have been bashing the film.

Directed by Advait Chandan, Laal Singh Chaddha is the official Hindi adaptation of Forrest Gump. The film also features Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya in pivotal roles. The movie is Chay’s debut in Bollywood.
