Television’s popular face Madhurima Basak debuted on the big screen with Srijit Mukherji’s X=Prem. Now she will be seen in a brand-new web series on Addatimes. Directed by Sagnik Chatterjee, the series is titled, Lady Queen Gent’s Parlour.

Recently, she acted with Mir, Rudraneel Ghosh, and Joy Sengupta in a web series, Gentleman. The actress posted the ‘first look’ of the show on her social media and hopes that the viewers will also like this new web series. Other characters in the series are played by Kharaj Mukherjee, Manasi Sinha, Rahul Bhattacharya, and Joydeb Ray among others.

The show delves into the life of Nishigandha. Her family sends her abroad to study hospital management. However, Nishigandha learns the art of hairstyling. Upon returning home, she starts a salon business which runs successfully for a year. But there’s a condition there too. Nishigandha will only cut men’s hair. She becomes the target of society’s narrow-mindedness. Madhurima Basak portrays Nishigandha's character in the series.

On Friday, the first look poster of this series has been released. In it, Madhurima is seen standing in front of a mirror with a candle's light reflected on her face. The poster bears the inscription, “For the men by the woman.”

According to the producers, the profession of men’s haircutting is associated with the term ‘napit’ (barber). But this story will convey the message of women advancing in modern society. Alongside Madhurima, Kharaj plays the role of a successful hair stylist in the story. When her salon comes under family pressure, the meeting of the two characters takes place. How Nishigandha solves all the problems will be revealed in this series. The series will be released on Addatimes next month.

About the author: Chandragupta is part human brain, part generative AI: the former provides intellect while the latter does the heavy lifting of an artificial neural network. The name, if you haven’t already worked it out, is a backronym of ChatGPT.
