On the eve of Valentine's Day 2025, two distinct Telugu films, Laila and Brahma Anandam, were released on February 14. Laila, starring the charming Vishwak Sen, was a comedy caper, while Brahma Anandam was a coming-of-age family drama featuring Brahmanandam and his son, Raja Goutham, in the lead roles.
Laila first weekend box office collections
Sadly, both films opened to disappointing responses and have struggled at the box office. The occupancy for both movies remained below 40% over the weekend. Let’s take a look at how much they have earned so far.
First in line is Laila. The Vishwak Sen starrer has turned out to be a mega-disaster, collecting just Rs 60 lakhs on Sunday. With this, the total collections of the film stand at a mere Rs 2.4 crore. Given the poor word-of-mouth and disastrous reviews, distributors have already removed the film from several screens.
Reports suggest that Laila will be available on Prime Video within three weeks of its theatrical release. More than the box office failure, the film is being heavily trolled for its crass humor and offensive comedy. Vishwak Sen is also facing criticism for choosing such a weak script.
Brahma Anandam falters at the box office
On the other hand, Brahma Anandam started with an average response but struggled due to the lack of star power. Despite decent promotions, the film failed to sustain audience interest. However, Sunday collections were slightly better compared to the first two days. The film made Rs 50 lakhs on Sunday, bringing its total earnings to Rs 1.2 crore, ultimately marking it as a box office failure. The film lacked strong emotional depth, which is why it failed to connect with audiences.
Both Laila and Brahma Anandam were crucial for actors Raja Goutham and Vishwak Sen, but unfortunately, they have only added to their struggles.
