Laila is Vishwak Sen's latest film, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a massive flop at the box office. Released on February 14, 2025, the comedy caper was directed by Ram Narayan and made on a budget of nearly ₹15 crore. Sadly, the film was panned so badly by audiences that it was pulled from theaters just three days after its release.
We at OTTplay previously reported that Prime Video had acquired the digital rights to Laila. Later, we also revealed that Aha had bagged the streaming rights and planned to premiere the film on March 7, 2025. However, the latest update is that Laila is still not streaming on Aha. The reason behind the delay remains unknown. Meanwhile, Prime Video also postponed its release but has finally made Laila available for streaming from March 9, 2025.
Vishwak Sen played the lead role in this film, which also marked the Telugu debut of Kannada actress Akanksha Singh. She appeared in a glamorous role, but unfortunately, the film did little to boost her career in Telugu cinema. In Laila, Vishwak Sen portrays a salon owner who disguises himself as a woman to escape from goons chasing him. The reason behind his disguise serves as the film's major twist.
Despite its digital release, Laila has had a slow start on Prime Video, with minimal buzz surrounding it. This film marks Vishwak Sen's third consecutive box-office failure after Gangs of Godavari and Mechanic Rocky. Following Laila's disastrous reception, Vishwak Sen faced severe trolling from audiences for his poor script choices. The backlash was so intense that he publicly apologized to fans, promising to be more selective with his projects moving forward.
The actor has two upcoming films set for release this year, and it remains to be seen whether he can bounce back from this slump. For now, those interested can watch Laila on Prime Video, while Aha subscribers will have to wait a little longer. Stay tuned for more updates.
