The makers of Lal Salaam announced recently that the movie will hit the screens as a Pongal release in January 2024. The project helmed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth marks her return to direction while her Superstar dad will be seen playing an extended cameo in it.

Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth are essaying lead roles in the film which revolves around cricket and friendship. Lyca Productions is bankrolling the movie which has music composed by AR Rahman. It is likely to have a box office clash with more than one Tamil movie.

Theatrical rights of Lal Salaam sold

The team has now announced that Udhayanidhi's Red Giant Movies has bagged its theatrical rights. This has ensured a good number of theatres for the film which is expected to take on Sivakarthikeyan's Ayalaan and Sundar C's Aranmanai 4.

Jayam Ravi's Siren and Arun Vijay's Vanangaan are said to be other projects that are eyeing the Pongal release. Lal Salaam will mark Rajinikanth's first outing in 2024. His much-awaited appearance from the project was unveiled a few months ago. He is likely to have one more release next year.

Can Rajini magic work for Lal Salaam?

The Superstar is on a high after the gargantuan success of Jailer which grossed more than 600 crores. His Thalaivar 171 (tentative title) with Lokesh Kanagaraj will be the most-hyped movie after Leo releases next week. Though Lal Salaam has him playing only a cameo, film buffs are eager to know how much the star could pull the audience to theatres.

He is currently busy with Gnanavel's Thalaivar 170 (tentative title), the shooting of which is happening at Tirunelveli. Rajini's videos of him greeting fans in Tirunelveli and Trivandrum went viral on social media recently.
