Vijay Devarakonda's Hindi debut in Liger has been producing interesting results. The bilingual film opened in theatres worldwide in Telugu on August 25 with the official Hindi release occurring a day later, making it a risky proposition for the makers. With the Telugu film receiving almost unanimously negative reviews on the 25th, things suddenly looked ominous for the Hindi version but it would seem that it has somehow held its ground so far.

And to make things more alluring, the latest trade reports have revealed that Liger (Hindi) has beaten the Hindi dubbed versions of Baahubali: The Beginning and Pushpa: The Rise in terms of opening day collections. Liger (Hindi) managed to produce an above-average Day #1 by earning up to Rs. 4.5 crores, in addition to the 1.25 crores secured through paid previews on August 25 and taking the total to a respectable figure of Rs. 5.75 crores.

Reportedly, the first instalments of both Baahubali and Pushpa are said to have collected Rs. 5.15 crores and Rs. 3.33 crores respectively on their opening days with the Prabhas & Pooja Hegde starrer Radhe Shyam earning Rs. 4.5 crores.

However, both Baahubali: The Beginning and Pushpa: The Rise went on to score massive over the course because of the superb audience reviews and even crossed the Rs. 100 crore barrier through their Hindi dubbed releases. Radhe Shyam (Hindi), however, fizzled out soon after due to poor reviews and is said to have managed to earn only Rs. 19.50 crores in its lifetime theatrical run.

In this context, the box office run Liger (Hindi) too is likely to see a consistent dip over the next few days. The film has inched closer to the Rs. 14 crore mark in a matter of four days but the numbers are purely a result of the weekend and the makers will have to endure bigger slumps in the coming days.

While the Hindi version presents a semblance of hope, the Telugu release of Liger is likely to end up a disappointment. Following a superb opening day with Rs. 14 crores (net), the negative reviews for Liger (Telugu) cast a rather harsh impact on the box office with Days 2 and 3 managing to fetch only Rs. 2.92 crores and Rs. 1.99 crores respectively. The 4-day box office report of Liger (all languages) is now pursuing the Rs. 40 crore mark in terms of nett collections.
