After the likes of Prabhas, Yash, Jr NTR and Ram Charan, it's Vijay Deverakonda's turn to try his luck with a pan-Indian film. Liger, his next filmed simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi, is a boxing drama helmed by Puri Jagannadh. Ananya Panday is cast as the female lead in the film whose shoot is complete already. Apart from the filmmaker Puri Jagannadh himself, Liger is jointly produced by Charmme Kaur, Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta under Puri Connects and Dharma Productions.
Liger, which also marks boxing legend Mike Tyson's debut in Indian cinema, is currently in its post-production phase. The film’s first glimpse, which was released for New Year, earned a terrific response, where Vijay Deverakonda’s makeover left many spellbound. Commemorating the actor’s birthday on May 9, the makers have planned something special The first song from the film, The Liger Hunt Theme, will be out on the same day, the team has announced.
A special theme lyrical that gives a context to the aura and attitude of Liger, played by Vijay Deverakonda, will be unveiled the star himself on May 9. A brief video launched by the makers has raised the curiosity among movie buffs. Vishnu Sarma is the cinematographer of the film, while Thailand-based Kecha is the stunt director and Junaid Siddiqui is the editor respectively. Liger will release across five languages - precisely in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. The film is set for a global release on August 25.
Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, Vishu Reddy, Ali, Makarand Desh Pandey and Getup Srinu play pivotal roles in Liger. The makers have been receiving exciting offers for Liger's distribution rights already - more details about it will be officially announced shortly.
