The biographical thriller follows Vicky Kaushal as Sardar Udham Singh, the Shaheed-E-Azam of India. The film follows the adventures of the eponymous freedom fighter who sneaks into London to assassinate the tyrannous Michael O’Dwyer, the Lieutenant General of Punjab, to avenge the brutal massacre at Jallianwala Bagh in 1919. A taut historical drama, the film was directed by Shoojit Sircar and features his filmmaking nuances.
Based on Hussain Zaidi’s Mafia Queens of Mumbai, Gangubai Kathiawadi documents the rise of the simple, sheltered Ganga to the position of the red-light queen of Kamathipura and a passionate advocate for the rights of sex workers. Starring the talented likes of Alia Bhatt, Jim Sarbh, Ajay Devgn, and Shantanu Maheshwari among others, the film bears the cinematic signature of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his epic filmmaking.

The sports biopic follows the tale of cricketer Pravin Tambe, who made his major league debut at the age of 41, without any prior international experience under his belt. From dreaming to play for the Ranji Trophy, to playing in the Indian Premier League in 2013, the film is a nod towards those relentless dreamers who never give up. And it is that diligence that forces even the Universe to accept its goals. Flawlessly portrayed by Shreyas Talpade, Pravin Tambe’s biopic is a beacon of hope for every struggling soul.
Directed and written by Nandita Das, Manto narrates the tale of the prominent and controversial Urdu writer, Saadat Hasan Manto. The film explores the obscenity allegations faced by Manto, his painful migration from India to Lahore, and his diasporic longing for India and Bombay till his last days. The film skillfully interweaves five of his most hard-hitting stories throughout the narrative, climaxing with Toba Tek Singh. Starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Rasika Dugal, and Tahir Raj Bhasin in leading roles, the film is a must-watch for all.
