Alaigal Oivathillai is a 1981 Tamil coming-of-age romance drama directed by Bharathiraja. The film stars Karthik and Radha in the lead roles and follows the lives of two star-crossed lovers from different religious backgrounds. Thiagarajan, the late Silk Smitha, and others appear in supporting roles. Alaigal Oivathillai is one of the classic romantic films of Tamil cinema and was released in Telugu as Seethakoka Chilaka.

Minnale

Minnale is 2001 romance drama which marked the directorial debut of Gautham Vasudev Menon. With script by Gautham and Vipul D. Shah, the film featured Madhavan, Abbas, Reema Sen, Vivek and Nagesh, among others. The film revolves around three people, including a man who falls in love with a woman while assuming the identity of another person. The romance drama was known for its music, which was scored by Harris Jayaraj. It was his debut film as well.

12B

Written and directed by cinematographer Jeeva, 12B released in 2001 and is a romance drama starring Shaam, Jyothika and Simran, along with Suniel Shetty and Moon Moon Sen. 12B employs a dual narrative and talks about the events of the man's life, whether or not he catches a bus and hsi subsequent love life.

April Maadhathil

This 2002 romance drama is directed by debutant SS Stanley and stars Srikanth and Sneha with Gayatri Jayaraman, Venkat Prabhu, Devan and Karunas, among others, in the supporting cast. A campus romance drama, April Maadhathil is about a group of friends who visit each other's homes during vacations. In between this, there are two lovers who have yet to express their feelings for each other.

Singaravelan

Singaravelan is a romantic comedy that was released in 1992. It starred Kamal Haasan, Khushboo, Mano, Vadivelu and others. It follows the life of Singara Velan, who goes to the city in order to find his long-lost cousin and get married to reunite their families. The film is directed by RV Udayakumar.
