Though real life is rarely so exciting, life on reel can easily be based in a small, enchanting but boring town with a dozen, rogue vampires in it, or with a portal to a different dimension, or simply, filled with otherworldly creatures and mortals with special powers. Whatever be your supernatural cup of tea, is bound to fall within these five series that will be your breakup bestie and binge-watch babe for a lifetime.

Supernatural

This Eric Kripke series is what spawned a supernatural craze among viewers. Premiering in 2005, the series continued for 15 seasons, concluding in 2020 as the longest-running American live-action fantasy series. The series focuses on the Winchester brothers, Dean and Sam, as they hunt various kinds of evil, supernatural creatures that harm humans, ranging from demons to Leviathans to the devil himself. The series can be streamed on Prime Video.

Lucifer

This series is a unique and modern reimagining of the life of the devil on earth. Lucifer Morningstar, the ruler of Hell abandons his post to run a hot nightclub in LA, Lux. But his temporary foray on earth becomes more permanent once he starts solving murders with LAPD detective Chloe Decker. On the other hand, this leads to a disbalance in the cosmos and further chaos, resulting in humorous drama, iconic scenes, and witty repartee, along with an intra-Angelic war. The series can be watched on Netflix.

The Umbrella Academy

This supernatural sci-fi show is based on a comic book series of the same name, The Umbrella Academy, written by Gerard Way. Developed by Jeremy Slater, the series traces the story of a dysfunctional family of adopted siblings with superpowers, who must figure out the mystery surrounding their distant father’s death and stop the impending apocalypse. The series can be viewed on Netflix.

The Vampire Diaries

This supernatural teen drama is loosely based off L. J. Smith’s titular novel series. It traces the inexplicable bond shared between Mystic Falls High student Elena Gilbert and the Salvatore brothers, Damon and Stefan, who are also vampires. As they try to figure out the origin of their love triangle, multiple varieties of supernatural characters as well as creatures demand their attention, resulting in fights, mass murders, and witchy battles. The series is available to stream on Netflix and Prime Video.

Stranger Things

This sci-fi show, produced by the Duffer Brothers, premiered in 2016, and is currently running with an upcoming fifth season under its belt. The story centers around the character of Eleven, a small girl with strong powers because of human experimentation, the town of Hawkins, and their complicated connection with the dangerous, alternate dimension, Upside Down. The rest must be experienced and not read about, by watching the superhit show. The show is available for a watch on Netflix.
