Major theatricals like RRR and Valimai have been the most-anticipated ones for fans to kick start their year. Unfortunately, their releases are postponed due to the surge in the COVID-19 cases, disappointing the movieholics.
Yet the entertainment needs of the audiences with varied and growing content available on OTT platforms. The past year has seen some of the major OTT releases in every language, out of which many have turned to blockbusters. Malayalam’s first-ever superhero movie Minnal Murali was released on Netflix last month, which became a major hit and is still trending on the streaming platform. The Tovino Thomas-starrer reaped a grand success, along with setting a benchmark.
While talking about other language contents, the major theatrical release, Pushpa: The Rise is all set to premiere on OTT alongside the Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui and the MCU movie Eternals.

Minnal Murali

Mollywood’s first-ever superhero movie stars Tovino Thomas in the eponymous role. Set on a fictional village in Kerala, the movie speaks about the origin of a superhero and supervillain, who gained superpowers after getting struck by lightning. Helmed by Basil Joseph, the movie also stars Guru Somasundaram, Shelly N Kumar, Harishree Ashokan and Aju Varghese, among others.
Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui

Starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Vani Kapoor in the leads, the romantic drama is a touching tale of human emotions. It features Khurrana and a cross-functional athlete, and is helmed by Abhishek Kapoor. The movie also has Abhishek Bajaj, Kanwaljit Singh, Gourav Sharma and Yash Bhojwani playing prominent roles.
Pushpa: The Rise

After the amazing theatrical run for three weeks, the Allu Arjun-starrer is all set to be streamed on the OTT. The pan-Indian movie portrays the rise of a coolie in the smuggling world of red sanders, which is a rare wood growing in Andhra Pradesh. Helmed by Sukumar, the movie also has Fahadh Faasil, Rashmika Mandanna, Sunil Dhananjaya and Ajay Gosh playing vital roles.
Bro Daddy
Release date: January 26 on Disney+Hotstar
Bro Daddy marks Prithiviraj Sukumaran’s second directorial venture after the hit political thriller Lucifer. Both starred by superstar Mohanlal, the duo is expected to bring the magic back on screen with Bro Daddy as well. The fun-filled family drama also stars Kalyani Priyadarshan, Lalu Alex, Meena, Kaniha and Soubin Shahir, among others.
Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana
Release date: January 13 on ZEE5
After the successful theatrical run, the Kannada blockbuster is all set to navigate its way to the OTTs. The film, featuring Raj B Shetty in the lead role, is a hard-hitting drama set against the backdrop of the coastal and cultural city of Mangaluru. The movie tells the story of two men, who go on to become notorious gangsters.
Eternals
Release date: January 12 on Disney+Hotstar
Marvel Studios' latest Eternals is all set to premiere on OTT after its successful theatrical run. Helmed by the Oscar-winning director Chloe Zhao, the movie is about the titular immortals who have been residing secretly on Earth for over 7,000 years. The movie stars Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, Richard Madden and Kit Harington, among others.
