Even before its release, Loki managed to create quite a lot of buzz on social media. It is hence not unexpected that the series became an instant fan favourite upon its premiere. In a twist, surprising the God of Mischief himself, Loki has managed to gather the highest viewership numbers on the first-day premiere among all Marvel shows available on Disney Plus so far.

According to a report by Samba TV, which measures streaming viewership in 3 million terrestrial smart TV households for at least five minutes, the Wednesday night premiere of Tom Hiddleston starrer series Loki drew viewers from 890k households, making it the largest premiere day for any Marvel's Disney Plus show till now.

Loki's 890k household viewership surpassed the first-day viewership of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier that caught 759k household viewers and WandaVision that sought 655k household viewers. The pilot Loki episode is also ahead of the four-day premiere weekend total for Cruella on the streaming platform, though the movie cost subscribers an extra $30 to stream.

“Clearly, the growing number of households tuning in on Day 1 proves that the Marvel Disney+ series are growing in momentum,” reports SambaTV.

As per SambaTV's previous reports, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier clocked in 1.7 million households for its first weekend and WandaVision caught 1.6 million for its first three-day weekend. Both the previous shows quickly grew in popularity after their pilot episodes were premiered and going by the same trend Loki had a potentially strong turnout right from the get-go.

Loki chronicles the journey of the God of Mischief as he sets out of his brother's shadow in a series of events that take place after Avengers: Endgame. The series stars Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as the God of Mischief alongside Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku and Eugene Cordero.
