While the film was slated for a March 20, 2026, release, a new report suggests that it has now been postponed to avoid a box office clash with another much-awaited film, Toxic, starring Yash.

Bollywood Hungama mentioned that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next, Love & War, will not be released on Eid 2026 as it was clashing with Yash's epic, Toxic. Toxic is set to be released on March 19, 2026.
"It's a blessing in disguise, as it made no sense for two Pan-Indian films to clash on the same date. Love And War is running much behind its shooting schedule, and will now release in the second half of 2026. Around 75 days of shoot still remains, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali has requested Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal to allot bulk dates till Summer 2026 to wrap up the film," the source shared.
It also mentioned that Love & War shooting is still going on, and it is 40 days behind schedule. So the earliest it can now be released is in the month of June 2026. "Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Leela Bhansali will take a call on the film's release soon and officially announce the delay in its release," the report shared.
Meanwhile, Variety reported that Love & War will hit cinemas on August 14, 2026.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali cancelled international schedule for Love & War
As per an earlier Mid-Day report, Sanjay Leela Bhansali had planned a 45-day Italy schedule for Love & War, but he cancelled it. However, he shot the portions at a studio near Royal Palms in Goregaon.
“The Italy schedule was turning out to be logistically complex and would have taken a lot more time to execute. Bhansali wanted to maintain the opulence while having firm control over the setting. So, he decided to recreate the portions on a set in Mumbai. He conducted a 10-day stint with his lead actors before Diwali," as per the report.
However, now, Filmfare reported that the final 20-day schedule, featuring the film’s grand climax, is expected to take place by December 2025 in Italy.
