Lust Stories 2: Angad Bedi, Mrunal Thakur to star in R Balki’s segment?

Lust Stories is coming back to the silver screen yet again with more unapologetic stories of people navigating their desires and pinings. One of the segments in the sequel will be helmed by R Balki. It was reported that the filmmaker’s segment will feature Angad Bedi and Mrunal Thakur in leading roles.

According to a report in Pinkvilla, the script for Balki’s directorial had been finalised, and the makers are planning to start filming for the same on August 7 in Mumbai. The report stated that Balki had already started on the pre-production work and was planning on wrapping up the shoot by the middle of August. An official announcement regarding the same is yet to be made.

If confirmed, Lust Stories 2 will mark Bedi and Balki’s second collaboration. The duo are also collaborating on the latter’s upcoming directorial Ghoomer, which also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Shabana Azmi and Saiyami Kher in prominent roles.

In addition to Balki, Amit Sharma, Sujoy Ghosh, and Konkona Sen Sharma will also direct segments in the sequel. Tillotama Shome and Amruta Subhash would reportedly star in Konkona’s directorial.

Peeping Moon reported that Amit and Konkona had already finished filming their segments. The portal also reported that Amit’s segment will star Kajol, and the actress will be seen essaying a ‘bold’ role, the likes of which she has never done before. The four part sequel will explore stories revolving around the themes of love, lust, status and power.

The original 2018 film had segments directed by Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banerjee and starred Radhika Apte, Bhumi Pednekar, Manisha Koirala, Kiara Advani, Akash Thosar, Vicky Kaushal,Neil Bhoopalam, Jaideep Ahlawat, Sanjay Kapoor and Neha Dhupia. The film had been nominated for Best TV Movie or Miniseries and Best Actress(Apte) at the International Emmy Awards. Lust Stories is available for streaming on Netflix.
