Madhuri Dixit discusses how OTT uses an 'emotion' thread to connect with its viewers

Madhuri Dixit-Nene was a chief guest at the 52nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) on Sunday, where she discussed how OTT platforms have revolutionised the entertainment business. When OTT platforms appeared during the COVID-19 epidemic, they bypassed the release of movies in theatres, causing a huge shift in the film business.

Producers began to release mainstream Bollywood films on OTT platforms like Netflix, ZEE5, and Amazon Prime during the pandemic. OTT platforms provided a lifeline to filmmakers who couldn't wait indefinitely for their films to be released during the worst of the pandemic.

Madhuri, who was attending the prestigious festival for the second time in her career, offered her thoughts on the rise of OTT platforms, saying that they have given all filmmakers and content creators the opportunity to present different content to a bigger audience.

The actor said that she has seen a lot of videos from many places via OTT services. It provided an opportunity for all filmmakers to present their ideas and connect with the audience through an emotional thread, which is crucial, as one will see when you see OTT.

Madhuri is set to make her OTT acting debut with Finding Anamika, which is set to stream on Netflix soon. The series also features Sanjay Kapoor in a pivotal role. 

Meanwhile, the IFFI began on November 20 in Goa and ended on November 28. The film festival was held in a hybrid format, as per the COVID-19 rules. IFFI, which was founded in 1952, is one of Asia's most important film festivals, providing a true venue for the exchange of ideas between new minds and experienced personalities in the film industry from all over the world. In 2004, former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar spearheaded the decision to make Goa the permanent home of the IFFI.
