A video of making scenes of a war in the ongoing project of Samantha Akkineni was released today on Instagram by Guna Teamworks that has created a frenzy among the social media users. The video shared a glimpse of the huge set erected at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. It shows the director Gunasekhar and his assistants on the camera trolley directing a large group of junior artistes wearing armour.

The movie will see the actress collaborating with the Malayalam actor Dev Mohan. Dev Mohan is rumoured to play Dushyant while Samantha will be playing the eponymous heroine Shakuntala from the puranas. According to latest reports, Samantha has already finished shooting for her part in this movie based on the epic by Kaalidas. Aditi Balan is roped in to play Anasuya, another Vedic character. The movie also marks the debut of Allu Arjun’s daughter Allu Arha as Prince Bharata.

Dev Mohan was last seen in the first Malayalam OTT premiere movie Sufiyum Sujathayum paired opposite Aditi Rao Hydari. Although the movie was deemed “lagging” by the critics, Dev Mohan’s soulful performance as a Sufi was lauded. The actor has also completed shooting for his portions in Shaakuntalam. The movie is in the final schedule of shooting now which is expected to be wrapped up shortly.

The movie is produced under the banner Guna Productions and directed by Gunasekhar who is known for the movie Okkadu, starring Mahesh Babu and Bhoomika. The movie was later remade into a Tamil film Ghilli that became a milestone in the career of actor Vijay. But lately, the director has been on the receiving end of critics because of his last epic, big budget directorial Rudhramadevi, which despite its star-studded cast of Anushka, Allu Arjun and Rana Daggubatti, failed to impress viewers as well as critics.
