Malaikottai Vaaliban poster - Mohanlal look majestic; here's how netizens reacted

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and acclaimed filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery’s eagerly awaited 2024 magnum opus Malaikottai Vaaliban is gearing up for its grand release on January 25. The epic period fantasy drama is set in the pre-independence era. With Mohanlal in a doube role, Malaikottai Vaaliban also stars Sonalee Kulkarni, Danish Sait, Katha Nandi and Hareesh Peradi. The film is one of those that fans are looking forward to watching in the coming year. And now, two new posters for the film have been released, one of which was leaked on social media. 

In one poster shared by Mohanlal, he appears nothing short of majestic. The actor, who is believed to play a Sikh wrestler in Malaikottai Vaaliban, is seen in a powerful pose with a massive tattoo on his arm. In another poster, the actor is seen with other cast members, who are in regal avatars. Over all, the posters clearly depict that the film is an epic period drama with several exciting twists. The posters have us intrigued and we cannot wait to see what the superstar and acclaimed director have in store for us. 

Mohanlal opens up on Malaikottai Vaaliban: 'A film that's never been seen in Malayalam cinema' 

It is interesting to note that Mohanalal's 2021 film Marakkar Arabikadalinte and 2018 film Odiyan were also much-hyped period films, but they fell short of expectations. The Malayalam superstar has a handful of period films in the pipeline, including Barroz and Vrushabha. Will Malaikottai Vaaliban bring the actor out of the curse of failed period dramas? Or will the film also receive an underwhelming response, like it's teaser?

Malaikottai Vaaliban’s plot kept under wraps

It was clear from the teaser that the makers of the period drama are not ready to unveil any details about the film. Although people were not impressed by the underwhelming teaser due to the lack of information about the film conveyed through it, fans are now convinced that Lijo Jose Pellissery has planned something big as far as Malaikottai Vaaliban's content goes. This way, the filmmakers are doing a splendid job of teasing fans and increasing the hype around the film.

In a recent interview, Mohanlal described the period drama as "a groundbreaking project in Malayalam cinema." “We are also very excited to watch the film. It's a unique film in terms of its cinematic treatment. The technical work is on par with Hollywood. There is no set period or background. The music, colour patterns and actions will feel fresh and something that has never been seen before in Malayalam films. We have made this film on a grand scale, and Lijo has handled it beautifully,” the actor elaborated.

Malaikottai Vaaliban drama is slated to be released on January 25, 2024.
