Mammootty and Lijo Jose Pellissery announce Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakam, film goes on floors

The film shoot has kickstarted in Pazhani.

After directing Mammootty in the upcoming Netflix Malayalam anthology, Lijo Jose Pellissery will be teaming up with the legendary actor in his forthcoming directorial, titled Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakam. The film is produced by the Megastar under his home banner, Mammootty Company. While announcing the film, the makers dropped a photo featuring a clapperboard with the title of the film against the backdrop of a church.

Although no other details have been revealed by the makers about the plot of the film, this collaboration has indeed made fans excited. Pellissery is leaving no stone unturned in leaving a mark with his impressive lineup as a director in Malayalam cinema. 

His first collaboration with Mammootty is a short film segment based on the stories of the celebrated writer MT Vasudevan Nair for Netflix. The shooting for the same has been happening in full swing and now the Megastar will soon kickstart the shoot for Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakam.

Meanwhile, Mammootty had two releases in 2021, which included The Priest as Father Carmen Benedict and One as the fictional Kerala Chief Minister, Kadakkal Chandran.

The legendary actor's upcoming film is Bheeshma Parvam in which he plays the titular role of a gangster. The movie is directed by Amal Neerad, and he co-wrote it with Devadath Shaji. 

Talking about the plot of the film, Bheeshmavardhan is a former gangster from Fort Kochi who now works as a marine exporter. He is compelled to relive his past after a series of tragic events and death threats to his family.

The other upcoming film from Mammootty is Puzhu, which is directed by debutant Ratheena. The film marks the veteran actor's first outing with Parvathy Thiruvothu and the first look was unveiled a few weeks back. 

Talking about Pellissery, the filmmaker's last outing as a director was the sci-fi mystery film titled Churuli which hit the screens in 2020.
