Mammootty is on a signing spree these days. The megastar, who has already had two theatrical releases this year with Bheeshma Parvam and CBI 5: The Brain and made his OTT debut with Puzhu, has now signed another thriller, to be helmed by a debutant.

The upcoming movie, which is yet to be titled, is helmed by scriptwriter Kaloor Dennis’ son Deeno. The big budget film is backed by Theatre of Dreams’ Darwin Kuriakose and Jinu V Abraham, who are also producing the upcoming film Kaapa and Anveshippin Kandethum that had Prithviraj Sukumaran and Tovino Thomas in the lead, respectively.

Jinu tells OTTplay that the upcoming Mammootty-starrer will go on floors this year. Incidentally, Deeno had announced a ‘game thriller’ with the megastar in 2018. The script reportedly had Mammootty playing a travel enthusiast and revolves around a series of mysterious incidents linked with his encounters with people during his travel from Kochi. However, Jinu tells us that Deeno’s upcoming film is not the same project.

The thriller will have Nimish Ravi, who had cranked the camera for Dulquer Salmaan’s Kurup and is currently working on the megastar’s Rorschach as its cinematographer. This is also Mammootty’s third thriller this year after Rorschach and CBI 5: The Brain.

The megastar, meanwhile, has also completed shooting for Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam that is expected to release in August. Mammootty is also set to team up with the Jallikattu director again for a segment in the Netflix anthology based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s stories.

Mammootty’s next release though will be the pan-Indian Telugu film Agent, which is directed by Surender Reddy. The movie reportedly has Mammootty playing the role of a RAW chief, who mentors Akhil Akkineni’s character. The megastar had shot for the film in Europe and Hyderabad.
