Lover, the upcoming film starring actor Manikandan in the lead role, is set to release on February 9 in theatres. Ahead of the release, the makers announced that the film has completed the censor formalities and has received a U/A certificate.
Lover is directed by Prabhuram Vyas in his feature film debut. He has earlier made the web series Livin, which is out on YouTube. Lover also stars Kanna Ravi, who was featured in the web series. Lover will release alongside Lal Salaam, starring Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles.
The film has been getting positive word of mouth ahead of its release. In the latest, Udhayanidhi had appreciated the film . Revealing this, Manikandan posted on X, “It was such a pleasure to receive your wishes over call @Udhaystalin sir I feel so elated to learn that you loved & enjoyed our film #Lover For an upcoming artist like me, It feels great to be appreciated for my performance in detail. It gives me more energy to explore more interesting roles!!”
The distribution head of Sakthi Film Factory, Harshath RVS, took to X (formerly Twitter) and said that it is one of the best love films he has watched in recent times. “Such a wonderful film with so much to relate, many clap worthy moments. Sure shot to run 50 days in Multiplexes,” he added.
Lover is said to be a romantic drama, which will explore modern-day relationships through the lens of toxic masculinity, consent, and appropriate behaviour. Besides Manikandan, the film also stars Sri Gouri Priya, Kanna Ravi, Saravanan, Geetha Kailasam, Harish Kumar, Nikhila Shankar, Rini, Pintu Pandu, and Arunachaleshwaran, among others. It is backed by Nazerath Pasilian, Magesh Raj Pasilian, and Yuvaraj Ganesan under the banner of Million Dollar Studios and MRP Entertainment, which earlier produced the 2023 success film Good Night starring Manikandan. The music is scored by Sean Roldan, with the film’s cinematography handled by Shreyaas Krish. Barath Vikraman served as the editor.
