The Indian fashion designer has designed costumes for more than 800 films

Celebrated fashion designer Manish Malhotra is all set to make his directorial debut under Karan Johar’s banner Dharma Productions. The filmmaking process is to begin soon and the cast of the film will be decided as well.
Reportedly, the film is going to be a musical love story and will be set in the backdrop of the 1947 partition. A close source to Dharma Productions recently told Hindustan Times that the story and screenplay of the upcoming intense musical love drama will also be penned by Manis. “He has already envisioned the entire screenplay ready in his mind and casting for the film will begin shortly. The film will come with a splash of grandeur and elegance,” the source added.
As reported by Bombay Times, Manish revealed his wish to become a filmmaker during the 2007 chat with the publication and said about directing a film or writing a book, “I’m going to be doing either soon.”
The fashion maestro is famous for styling and designing for almost all the biggies of Indian cinema. From Shah Rukh Khan to Amitabh Bachchan and late Sridevi to Kareena Kapoor Khan, the fashion icon has styled them all and even the younger generation of Bollywood including Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.
Manish Malhotra has designed costumes for more than 800 films including the old films like Waqt Hamara Hai, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Gupt: The Hidden Truth as well as the new-age films like Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Thugs of Hindostan, Student of the Year 2 and the list is countless. He has also designed traditional outfits for the late legend Michael Jackson during his India tour.
