Like other professions, acting is also a tough job to acquire. The film industry does seem shiny from the outside, but the journey to get there is a big deal, as it takes time and hard work. In this article, we will tell the story of one such actor whose journey to fame wasn't overnight. But currently, he is one of the most popular faces in the industry, especially on the OTT platforms.
He is none other than Pratik Gandhi. He has done several OTT shows. He has been grabbing headlines as his series Gandhi, directed by Hansal Mehta, has become the first ever Indian series to have a world premiere at the 50th edition of the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
Pratik Gandhi's journey of becoming an actor
Pratik Gandhi hails from Surat. In his early life, he was involved in theatre arts and graduated in Industrial Engineering from the North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon in 2004. Pratik later worked at Reliance Infrastructure (cement division) in Mumbai from January 2008 to 2016. Even though he had a job, Pratik would wake up at 5:30 a.m. for rehearsals, work all day, and return to the theater in the evening.
He rose to fame with the Gujarati film Bey Yaar (2014). He also did plays like Mere Piya Gaye Rangoon, Hu Chandrakant Bakshi, and Ame Badha Sathe To Duniya Laiye Mathe. In Mohan's Masala, he performed a monologue in three languages, English, Hindi, and Gujarati on the same day.
Following this, Pratik played a lead role in his next film, Wrong Side Raju (2016), which won the National Award for Best Gujarati Film. His other Gujarati films are Love Ni Bhavai (2017) and Ventilator (2018).
He played stockbroker Harshad Mehta in the 2020 Sony LIV (OTTplay Premium) biographical drama web series Scam 1992, directed by Hansal Mehta. This series is still one of the most-watched among fans, and it received widespread acclaim.
Pratik has also received praise for his role in Madgaon Express, Do Aur Do Pyaar, Agni, Phule, and more. His upcoming thriller series, Saare Jahan Se Accha, will premiere on Netflix on August 13, 2025.

Hansal Mehta-directed series Gandhi stars Pratik Gandhi in the lead role. It has become the first-ever Indian series to have a world premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival, in its 50th edition.
