Mimi Chakraborty to star in Mainak Bhaumik’s next

Mini will see Mimi Chakraborty in a strong female character, keeping in line with the previous film CrissCross, that she did with Mainak. The actress in her statement to the Times of India expressed her excitement about working with Mainak again. The first conversation about Mini happened on the sets of CrissCross, and ‘a new bit’ of the script was discussed with Mimi during the lockdown. 

Mimi said that she really liked the character. ‘She is independent but at the same time family and relationships are important in her life.’ She spoke. Mimi added that it is ‘a women-oriented story’ and that this will help her experiment with her acting skills. Speaking about the director to The Telegraph, she said that ‘working with Mainak should be fun’ as she has heard he is ‘cool and easy-going.’ 

Mainak Bhaumik, who has wrapped up the shoot of Ekannoborti called the project a ‘sweet, sad, melancholic film that deals with the value of responsibility.’ 

Actor Sampurna Lahiri, and Rahul Bhanja from Small Taalk Ideas, and MK Media are producing the film. In a statement to the Telegraph, Sampurna expressed her joy to come up with her production house with Rahul and said that they have planned for many films after Mini. 

Being an actress, Sampurna added that the common assumption that a female actor opening her production would necessarily be a part of the main cast is not true, as she is more driven to make good cinema and ‘collaborate with great artistes and empower other leading ladies of Tollywood.’ Sampurna’s co-producer at Small Taalk films, Rahul Bhanja has worked in the production team for many films like Ahare Mon, Byomkesh Gowtro, O Projapoti Rahasya, 

Durga Sahay, Asche Abar Shabor, to name a few. He added that they are looking to produce six feature films, which are all based on ‘stories of different relationships.

Mini will go on floors later this year.
