Producers of the hit Amazon Prime web series Mirzapur, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, were granted some relief by the Allahabad High Court in the matter of an F.I.R filed against the makers with regards to the content of the show. On Friday the court stayed the arrest of Farhan and Ritesh after an F.I.R was filed against the show for hurting religious sentiments and showing the district of Mirzapur in a negative light. The F.I.R was filed in Kotwali Dehat in Mirzapur by a city-based journalist on 17 January. The allegation against the show was that it portrayed the city as one dwelled by goons and inflicted by crime. The fictional series that stars Pankaj Tripathi and Ali Fazal in key roles is already down two seasons on the digital platform Amazon Prime Video which was also named in the F.I.R. The complaint was registered under section 295 (A) 505 IPC 67 (A) IT Act.  A bench including judges Justice MK Gupta and Justice Virendra Kumar has also issued notices to the state government and the complainant whose responses are now awaited. Farhan and Ritesh’s Excel Entertainment produced the series which is already headed for a third season.
