Farhan Akhtar has embraced the challenge of getting into the shoes of an Indian army cadet with his usual dedication and vigour. The actor-filmmaker stars in the latest episode of the Discovery Plus series, Mission Frontline, where he spends a day with the Indian Army’s counter-insurgency unit called The Rashtriya Rifles.
In a 30 second long clip the star posted on his Instagram,viewers get a peek into the grueling life of a Rashtriya Rifles officer, fraught with uncertainties and danger. Akhtar is seen training with the unit in Kashmir, trying his hand at shooting firearms,fending off a trained dog and even throwing a grenade. In his narration, he also asks the question of whether he would be able to make it one day doing the things India’s protectors do every day to protect the country. In the caption Akhtar calls his ordeal ‘challenging’ as well as ‘inspirational '.
According to a report in India Today, Akhtar had opened up about his experience on the show, calling it ‘exceptional’ and expressing how thankful he was for the opportunity. He also appreciated the noble efforts of the Indian army in protecting the country, and said he got important take aways about a soldier’s life from the show.
The series had earlier featured stars such as Sara Ali Khan, Rana Daggubatti, and most recently, Rohit Shetty as well. Khan had trained with India’s first female commando unit, the Veerangana Force in Assam while Daggubatti spend a day with the Border Security Force in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Shetty’s episode saw him train with Special Operations Group officers in Kashmir.
