Mohanlal is currently busy with the promotions of Neru, the upcoming project, which marks his fifth collaboration with Drishyam director Jeethu Joseph. The movie, which is touted to be an intense courtroom emotional drama, is set to hit the theatres on December 21, 2023. During one of his recent interviews with a leading online media, Mohanlal opened up about his role in Neru, and stated that it is one of his favourite films as an actor.

The Malayalam superstar, who is all excited for his next outing, stated that Neru is an important film that discusses a highly strong and relevant subject. Interestingly, Mohanlal also revealed that the Jeethu Joseph directorial is one of his favourite films, as an actor. Well, from the veteran actor’s revelation, it is evident that he is set to play a performance-oriented character after a long gap, in the upcoming courtroom drama.

Mohanlal opens up about his character in Neru

Interestingly, Mohanlal also revealed that his character in Neru, Adv. Vijaya Mohanan is not a traditional movie hero. He is someone who admits that he is not good at his job, right at the beginning of the film. According to the superstar, his character begins his journey in the film by apologizing to the audience first, stating that he has ‘lost his touch’, as the trailer suggested. The character has a well-constructed arc in the film and has his moments of depression.

About Neru

In the interview, Mohanlal and director Jeethu Joseph also revealed that Neru revolves around a trial, that lasts for over a year. Most parts of the film are set inside the courtroom, and those portions were shot in a single schedule that lasted for around 20 days. The leading man also revealed that 70 percent of the film travels through court procedures, and it has been showcased as logically as possible.

Along with Mohanlal, Neru features a stellar star cast including Siddique, Jagadish, KB Ganesh Kumar, Priya Mani, Anaswara Rajan, Sree Dhanya, Kalesh Ramanand, Nandu, Santhi Maya Devi, Krishna Prabha, Aditi Ravi, and others in supporting roles. The Jeethu Joseph directorial is bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor, under the banner Aashirvad Cinemas.
